Planckian Locus, Color  Temperature and Color of Light     Planckscher Lokus,  Farbtemperatur und Lichtfarbe

In the graph below the line in the color Space defines the "isotherm" (same amount) of the "given stimulus" at the same brightness of the perceived color. In technical terms it is called CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) and it is measured in Kelvin degrees (°K).

What does this mean for Power LEDs?

Normally Power LEDs are sold in two to three classes - warm, neutral and cool white (besides colored Light and RGB LEDs that are not regarded any further here). Warm white is corresponding with the light of an incandescent Bulb (with low Power). It's suitable for cosy fire-place ambient and where warm feeling shall be generated. Neutral white can be widely used for many purposes, It provides similar light to high temperature incandescent Lamps like Halogenic lamps with high performance often found in commercial areas. Cool Light is giving a "clean" and technical impression and is often used in outdoors applications and for the public or in health care sector.

The following table is intended as an orientation and decision help:

*) Efficiency depending on the color temperature: In fact the lighting efficiency for LEDs is decreasing with warmer color temperatures. Therefore a more powerful LED must be chosen if the same amount of light shall be generated for a warm ambient (see also Benchmark-Picture in the Power LED chapter).

onlux standard colors of light:
For the most important onlux-Products the customer can choose form 4 predefined colors of light. onlog is assuring high accuracy that these colors will be met again in case of a later repurchasing of the same or a consecutive product. The Colors are defined as follows:

Was bedeutet dies für Power LEDs?
